Marc A. Johnston is the principal and owner of Johnston Law Firm, P.C. in Portland, OR. He is an experienced personal injury attorney, having handled well over 800 personal injury and wrongful death cases. Mr. Johnston has worked on some of the largest insurance coverage cases in Oregon and Washington, where he has represented businesses, contractors, consumers and associations who have had their claims denied by their own insurance companies. Mr. Johnston began his legal career with a law firm in Portland, Oregon, where he focused on representing plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes and denials, and appeals. He later joined a second Portland law firm where he handled a large litigation caseload of personal injury and wrongful death defense cases.

In doing defense work, Mr. Johnston learned to represent the victims of accidents and injuries from the “inside out.” He understands the way that insurance companies think and can anticipate their next move in evaluating claims. Our clients who have suffered injury, death or who have been denied insurance claims by insurance companies benefit from Mr. Johnston’s unique experience and inside understanding of the legal and insurance process.

Mr. Johnston graduated cum laude from the Gonzaga School of Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University, with a double major in business management and marketing. His experience includes working in the Washington State Legislature for two state representatives and working in his family’s construction business.

Mr. Johnston is the founder and former head coach of the nationally competitive Reed College Mock Trial Program, where he donates his time and shares his experience and passion for litigation and trial tactics with college students. Mr. Johnston is the chairman of the Sports Committee for the Portland Chapter of Gonzaga Alumni and is on the Executive Board of the Oregon New Lawyer Division. He is an avid fisherman and whitewater enthusiast, and he grew up playing on championship basketball and baseball teams.
