Negligent or reckless conduct by a driver can be very harmful. However, it is important to note that drivers aren’t the only vehicle occupant whose misconduct can cause bad things to occur. Improper conduct by passengers can also cause a great deal of harm. One hopes that all occupants of motor vehicles make sure to not engage in unsafe conduct and are held accountable when they do commit such conduct and it results in an accident occurring.
Recently, a motor vehicle crash occurred in Oregon in which the driver and passenger of the vehicle involved have been accused of wrongful conduct.
The accident happened on Sunday in Portland. Early that morning, a car that purportedly was being driven by a 23-year-old woman and had a 25-year-old man as a passenger crashed into a Taco Bell. Authorities allege that the 23-year-old woman fled the scene after the crash.
Authorities have accused the 23-year-old woman of having been driving while intoxicated. The woman, meanwhile, alleges that the accident occurred because the 25-year-old man hit her and grabbed the steering wheel while she was driving.
Police have arrested both the 23-year-old woman and the 25-year-old man in connection to the accident. They both face multiple charges.
One person was seriously injured in this car accident. The person in question is one of the workers at the Taco Bell. The way this person was injured was somewhat unusual as compared to most motor vehicle accidents. The woman was hit with a fryer containing hot oil as a result of the car striking the restaurant. She suffered serious burn injuries and was brought to a medical center.
As this crash shows, there are a wide variety of different ways that auto accidents can cause a person to get hurt.
If a person has suffered injuries as a result of a car accident, they may wish to consider talking to a personal injury attorney about the accident to see if there are any options available for seeking relief.
